So far I have found as good as no Puppy Care of Kitty Care in toy books. It is like seeking a needle in a haystack. Whilst Pound Puppies got loads of attention, Kitty Care and Puppy Care seems to have been the stepsister who deserved no attention at all. Perhaps this also explains why in the end the toy line never gained any true lasting succes and never grew out to be as known as Pound Puppies. Of course this is just speculation. But if you see how popular My Little Pony was (and still is) and how similar Kitty Care and Puppy Care are to this horribly succesful toy horses line, not to mention that it are cats and dogs and what kid doesn't like these animals I ask you, then one can only conclude that Kitty Care and Puppy Care could have been far grander than it turned out to be in the end ...
But like you probably already concluded from the very first line of this article, I did find in the end after going through tons of stacks of old toy books on line one small promo add for Puppy Care. Kitty Care so far remains unfindable and to be honest, the promo add for Puppy Care wasn't that big either ...
Promo add for Puppy Care in toy catalogue Argos, issue spring and summer from 1987:
Notice by the way how the "Pound Puppies" logo was wrongly used to promote the Puppy Care dogs ...
Thankfully when me and my brothers were younger, we also stashed toy books in the boxes that were meant for storage and whilst slowly and methodically going through our attic, I have come across one add in a Dutch toy book from 1987 that holds a small picture for both Kitty Care and Puppy Care. And here they did use the right logo unlike with the add found in the Argos issue from 1987.
Promo add for Kitty Care and Puppy Care in the toy catalogue Speel-Pret-Krant from Blokker, issue 12 october 1987:
the price is in BEF. Notice also how both the kitty as the puppy are shown with the rectangle comb and not the more commonly known comb that holds an image of the Kitty Care or the Puppy care logo.
